Widow found dead under mysterious circumstances in Rampura
TNN | Feb 9, 2019, 04:00 ISTSurat: A 40-year-old widow was found dead in her house in Rampura area of the city on Thursday night. Police suspect illicit relationship to be the reason for the murder, but are yet to get any clue about the person who carried out the crime. They are looking at the CCTV footages of the area to zero in on the suspect.
Reshma alias Rehmat Krishnakant Shastri lived in her house with 25-year-old disabled stepson. Lalgate police received a call at 9.15pm about the woman lying in her house in a pool of blood with her throat slit.
She was rushed to Lokhat Hospital where the doctors declared her dead. A police officer said, “Her throat had a single wound, making breathing difficult for her. She died within a few hours of the attack.”
The police officer said Reshma was married to a man from Kholwad and bore him two sons. However, their marriage didn’t work and she took divorce and got married to Krishnakant Shastri who succumbed to cancer within three years. It was second marriage for Shastri too, who was father to a disabled son and daughter who is now married. Reshma used to take care of her stepson ever since Shastri’s death.
The police officer said Reshma did tailoring work to earn her livelihood and led a lonely life. “The motive is not yet clear to us, but illicit relationship can’t be ruled out. We have recorded a few statements of people. The woman was with her stepson in the house when she was murdered.”
