Haven't we seen that face before? The catwalk queens and their modern day Millennial doppelgangers
When pictures of Carla Bruni from her modelling heyday were juxtaposed with those of Bella Hadid on Instagram this week, the striking likeness left many social media users adjusting their screens in disbelief.
Carla has joked she has a 'hidden daughter', while Bella posted a picture of a younger Carla in tribute. But the supermodel similarities do not end with Carla and Bella.
Here, Antonia Hoyle presents the catwalk queens who have spawned some modern-day Millennial doppelgangers . . .

Cut-glass cheekbones. Aquamarine eyes. A delicately sloping nose. Nineties supermodel Carla Bruni (left) and model of the moment Bella Hadid, 22, could be blood relatives. Bella is the daughter of a Palestinian property developer while Carla's Italian parents were a concert pianist and a classical composer. Mother of two Carla, now 51, married former French President Nicolas Sarkozy. Bella is in an on-off relationship with Canadian singer Abel Tesfaye (known as The Weeknd).

Americans with German ancestry, and former Victoria's Secret models, Heidi Klum (left) and Karlie Kloss share an astute business acumen. Kloss, 26, hosts her own TV show and is an avid computer programmer while Klum, 45, is also a TV presenter who has branched into clothes designing. They have dramatically different tastes in men, though. Heidi — who had four children with musician Seal — is now engaged to guitarist Tom Kaulitz while Karlie married businessman Joshua Kushner

Christie Brinkley (left) and Candice Swanepoel don't just share megawatt smiles, glowing skin, coiffed blonde manes and pneumatic curves, but a predilection for posing in barely there swimwear. South African Candice, 30, made her name as a Victoria's Secret model in 2010, while Christie, 65, shot to fame in a swimsuit, as a covergirl in three Sports Illustrated issues between 1979 and 1981

The cool, understated beauty of Christy Turlington, 50 (left) is almost replicated in Russian supermodel Irina Shayk, 33. Both are 5ft 10in, live in New York and dote over their pet dogs. Pilot's daughter Christy shot to stardom with Calvin Klein's Eternity perfume ads. Irina, whose father was a coal miner, stripped off as the 'face' of lingerie firm Intimissimi

Northern Irish stunner Stella Maxwell bears a striking similarity to Claudia Schiffer in her 20s (far left). German Claudia, 48, was spotted in a nightclub aged 17 and hit the big time with her Guess? jeans campaign. Diplomat's daughter Stella, 28, was raised in Belgium and modelled for H&M. She likes to play scrabble on her iPhone while Suffolk-based Claudia enjoys 'board games in front of the fire'

Few can pull off studied, sullen nonchalance quite like Kate Moss, 45, and Gigi Hadid, 23, who modelled together in a campaign for shoe brand Stuart Weitzman. 'I had the greatest time with you, and am forever touched by your spirit and presence,' gushed Gigi (far right) on Instagram to her British alter-ego, who responded by posting a picture of the shoot on Instagram from which the U.S. model appeared to have been removed. Ouch

With honey- streaked bobs, almond eyes and knowing smiles, the young Naomi Campbell (far left) and Jourdan Dunn don't just look alike — their careers share uncanny parallels. Both were spotted while shopping in London as teens — Naomi, now 48, in Covent Garden and Jourdan, 28, in Primark. Both split their time between London and New York and both have received plaudits for Vogue magazine covers. Jourdan is the first black model to appear on the Prada catwalk since 1997 — when Naomi Campbell did it
