Kanpur: As a gift to the newly-weds, a wedding invite in Kanpur Dehat asked guests to vote for Samajwadi Party in the coming general elections.
In the invitation card, which is being widely shared on social media, the parents of the bridegroom wrote — “Manniya Akhilesh Ji ki sune, Cycle hi chune” (Listen to respected Akhilesh ji, select only cycle).”
The invite is for a wedding slated to take place on February 10 at Maidu village in Akbapur block of Kanpur Dehat.
Sheela Singh, whose daughter is getting married on February 10, has asked the guests to vote for Samajwadi Party in the upcoming LS elections and even printed this message on the card.
She is not the first one to do so and wedding card printers claim that this is a recent trend, with many opting for similar messages on invitation cards.
“Our gift is your valuable vote to Samajwadi Party in 2019 Lok Sabha elections,” said Saurabh Singh, elder brother of Lovely, the bride, while talking to TOI.
Singh said the same wedding card he had posted to Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, inviting him to attend the wedding and bless the couple.
“We would be highly honoured that if Akhilesh Ji accepts our invitation and we will be more delighted if he joins us,” he said.
“People must give their valuable votes to Akhilesh Ji. I believe, the nation is waiting for him to lead from the front,” he added.
