NEW DELHI: A 28-year-old woman from West Bengal was allegedly raped by many men brought by her landlady, a resident of Geeta Colony in east Delhi. When the survivor fell ill and was admitted to a hospital, the accused woman even struck a deal there with a man who raped her. The woman and one of the accused have been arrested.
The survivor told police that her husband used to work with a private company in east Delhi. He became unemployed after the firm shut down during the sealing drives last year. In October 2018, when the family couldn’t pay rent, the landlady offered to get her employed as a household help.

A few days later, the landlady asked her to accompany her to a businessman’s office in Jheel Khurenja. When she reached there along with her one-year-old daughter, the landlady snatched the infant from her arms and pushed her in a room where the businessman raped her.

Later, the landlady told her that she had made a video of the sexual assault and would circulate it if she went to the cops. The survivor claimed that she started bleeding due to the sexual assault and was taken to a government hospital in central Delhi. She was introduced to a man claiming to be a doctor, who took her to a room for treatment and raped her.

The landlady then kept fixing “appointments” with several other men. The survivor claimed that the landlady’s relative and his friends had also gang-raped her once. She finally narrated her ordeal to her husband after which he approached police with the help of an NGO.

DCP (Shahdara) Meghna Yadav said that a case of gang rape and under Immoral Trafficking Prevention Act has been registered.
