Slain journalist Khashoggi's fiancee releases his memoirsA book written by the fiancee of slain journalist Jamal Khashoggi about his life has been released. Hatice Cengiz has documented the legacy of her partner, the Washington Post columnist killed inside the Saudi Arabian consulate in Istanbul by Saudi operatives last October. The book's release comes a day after a report by the New York Times claimed that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman had told an aide he planned to use "a bullet" on Khashoggi, a critic of the prince, in 2017, if the journalist did not return to his homeland - and halt his activism. That report also came the same day the U.N. Said its own evidence pointed to a murder "perpetrated" by Saudi officials. His fiancee hopes it will have an international impact. SOUNDBITE (Turkish) HATICE CENGIZ, FIANCEE OF JOURNALIST JAMAL KHASHOGGI, SAYING: "I hope this report will accelerate the next step and it will pave way to take permanent action." The report added that Saudi officials had "seriously undermined" and delayed Turkey's investigation. Turkey say the findings from their inquiry were in line with that of the U.N. And despite Turkey's joint investigation with Saudi officials the whereabouts of Khashoggi's remains are still unknown. Turkish president Tayyip Erdogan has said the killing was ordered at the highest level of Saudi leadership. But Riyadh continues to reject accusations that the Crown Prince was involved. | |||||
