‘That people are with AMMK was proved in R.K. Nagar bypoll’

Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) leader T.T.V. Dhinakaran on Thursday said that the Supreme Court verdict delivered today on his application seeking the pressure cooker symbol was not a setback for his party.

Speaking to reporters at Kallakuruchi here, he said the order was clear and the Supreme Court had given four weeks time for a final decision on the issue.

Mr. Dhinakaran said that symbol was not important and whatever be the symbol for the party, people would vote for the AMMK.

This had been proved in the R.K. Nagar by-election, he said.

He called upon his political adversaries not to indulge in any wishful thinking as the R.K. Nagar poll result was an immediate example to show that people’s support would always be on the side of the AMMK.

Mr. Dhinakaran said that depending upon the verdict in the case relating to the 11 MLAs, if the elections to the Lok Sabha and the State Assembly were held together, it would save expenditure for the government.
