Did someone order the sampler platter from Netflix this week? We've got a returning favorite, a special episode of an adored animated comedy, a new season of a kids' show, an original film from a powerhouse director, a foreign film that makes no sense, some food porn, a stand-up special, a new reality show and a foreign version of an American series that we love. All we're missing is some anime for a well-rounded slate of Netflix shows.

The Biggest ReleasesOne Day at a Time, Season 3
Yes, it's a reboot. Yes, it's a multi-camera comedy. But it ain't no Murphy Brown Round 2! One Day at a Time is too good for us, to be honest. The story of a Cuban-American family is wholesome, pure, funny, and brings the family together, essentially everything I am not, and it's as good as ever in Season 3. This season, in addition to the ever-shifting family politics of a single mom raising two teenagers, topics covered include toxic masculinity, homophobia and racism, but don't let that scare you off. They're handled with the series' magical touch of sincerity and humor, allowing for sane and heartfelt conversations about difficult subjects. Plus, Rita Moreno is in this and she sings a duet with Gloria Estefan in the first episode.
Big Mouth: My Furry Valentine
Those sexually frustrated kids are back, just in time to find out that Valentine's Day is a total sham. This between-seasons special is a super-sized 40-plus-minute episode with the Hallmark holiday at the center, and follows Nick, Andrew and the other randy tykes as they go lookin' for love. Hopefully the title means someone gets it on with an actual furry, cuz that seems right up the show's alley. (Trailer)
High Flying Bird
Bona fide auteur Steven Soderbergh slums it on Netflix with his latest film, this time going in a new territory for him: sports! Andre Holland plays a sports agent who can't get his client on the court (or to a bank) because of a pro basketball lockout, so he devises a plan to fix everything. American Vandal's Melvin Gregg stars as the basketball star, this time with 100-percent less poop.
The Tree of Blood
Uhhhh... what? Spain delivers one of the truly perplexing films of our generation, and not in a good way. The logline says its about a couple who research their families' histories and uncover secrets, but the trailer says it's an incomprehensible thriller with a hint of psychosexual terror? (Trailer)
The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants, Season 2
This animated show knows the easiest way to a kid's funny bone is by making a fart noise. And you know what? It is funny! Two elementary school kids go on more silly adventures after turning their principal into a tighty-whitey-wearing superhero. There seem to be less teacher-eating toilets this season. (Trailer)
Kevin Hart's Guide to Black History
Probably not the best timing, really. This one-off special sees Hart sitting down his on-screen daughter to explain some of the most important but overlooked figures in black history. (Trailer)

ReMastered: The Two Killings of Sam Cooke
Netflix's docuseries looking into major events in music history continues with the mysterious murder of singer Sam Cooke, who stood up for his rights during the days of segregation. (Trailer)
Unauthorized Living
If you need another show about the patriarch of a shady business who comes down with a terminal illness and must figure out which member of his dysfunctional family should take over the operation, here it is! In Spanish! Plus there are some shark metaphors that will make you want to shoot yourself in the face. (Trailer)
The Break, Season 2
TV detectives are all miserable, it's a universal rule. In this Belgian crime show, a troubled inspector returns to his home town, where a murder case he works dredges up memories of a painful past. Dating Around, Season 1
In this homegrown reality series, six singles go on five first dates with the goal of finding someone to go on a second date with. It's diverse, with straight singles and same-sex singles looking for love, which is great! I'll be watching it with my life-size anime pillow.
