\'Death to America\' is really \'Death to Trump\': Iran

Death to America": The chant ubiquitous with protests in countries hostile to the United States across the world.

Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei says that in his country's case it doesn't really mean death to America or death to Americans in general.

It's more specific, he says.

It means death to Trump, and his policies, and his lieutenants.

Khamenei mentioned National Security Advisor John Bolton and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

A statement on the ayatollah's website said he made the comments to a gathering of Iranian air force officers to mark the 40th anniversary of the Iranian revolution.

The leader also advised against trusting Europeans, although he said said communications with Europe should remain open.

The European Union has recently become more vocal in its criticism of Iran's ballistic missile program, even as the EU tries to salvage what's left of the 2015 nuclear agreement.

The deal asked Iran to curb its nuclear program in exchange for lifting sanctions.

The Trump administration withdrew but the EU remained in.
