‘Form body to address merged villages’ woes’

Pune: To address the problems of recently merged 11 villages under the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Minister of State for Water Resources Vijay Shivtare has asked the the civic body to form a committee to be headed by deputy commissioner level rank officer. 

Shivtare was in the city and was addressing a press conference on Friday at the Divisional Commissioner’s Office. Divisional Commissioner Deepak Mhaisekar, District Collector Naval Kishore Ram and civic officials were present for a meeting to solve the issues of these merged villages.

Shivtare said that two locals of each village should also be a part of the committee so that they have a say while planning the development work of the merged villages. “Issues like detailed project report, water management, tax collection, sewage management and other issues have to be sorted out,” added Shivtare.

The State government had brought 11 villages within the municipal limits on October 4, 2017. The merged villages include Lohegaon (Shivne-Uttamnagar (88 per cent), Shivane, Mundhwa, Hadapsar, Sade-Satara Nali, Ambegaon Khurd, Undri, Dhayari, Ambegaon Budruk, Uruli Devachi and Phursungi.

The area falling under the jurisdiction of PMC increased from 250.64 sq km to 331 sq km after the merger.
