Hyderabad: 2 women thumb a ride, snatch biker’s chain; held

HYDERABAD: Two women asked a biker for a lift and then snatched his two-tola gold chain, but as they scooted with the booty passersby nabbed them near Yamnampet Crossroads on Wednesday evening. The two from Moosarambagh were remanded in judicial custody on Thursday.
Around 5.30pm on Wednesday, Nujella Ravi Shanker, an accountant and a resident of Nagaram, was returning home on his two-wheeler after attending work at Bibi Nagar.
“Two women asked for a lift near HPCL,Aushapur and got on to Shanker’s Hero Honda Splendor,” a cop said.
Chain snatching duo sent to jail
Once they reached Yamnampet Crossroad, they asked him to stop the bike. As they were getting of the bike, they snatched his two-tola gold chain. “The rider caught hold of the chain and held on to it. In the melee, the chain fell on the ground. The duo took the chain and scooted from the spot. He screamed for help,” the officer said. Alert pedestrians caught the women and handed them over to police.“The duo was arrested and sent to judicial remand. The gold chain was also recovered,” the officer said.
