UP FM: Focus on both gaushalas, madrassas
Rohan Dua | TNN | Feb 9, 2019, 05:23 ISTLUCKNOW: UP finance minister Rajesh Agarwal said on Thursday that unlike previous regimes, the Yogi Adityanath government's budget was not centred to please any particular votebank as it was committed to all round development in the state.
"If we have dedicated Rs 450-odd crore for gaushalas, we have also earmarked Rs 490 crore for madrassas," he told TOI in an interview.
He said the BJP government tabled one of the biggest ever budget - with an outlay of Rs 4.75 lakh crore - on Thursday. "It's a tax-free budget for the third successive time. Despite that, we have hiked the budget allocation by 12%. It's no mean feat as budgets during BSP or SP regimes never crossed Rs 3 lakh crore," he claimed, adding that 42% of the budget was allocated for power and public work sectors.
