AHMEDABAD: Passengers of a flight to Bhopal from Ahmedabad on Thursday afternoon were put in a fix when the departure of SpiceJet flight, SG-3429 was delayed by more than two hours. Sources in the airport said the flight was delayed due to delay of an incoming flight from Jaipur.
“The flight was scheduled to depart at 1.45pm but I received a message from the airline around noon that the flight has been delayed and will depart at 3pm. Since I stay near the airport, I left home a little later to reach the airport, only to learn that the flight has been further delayed by another hour,” said Rashmi Bhanushali, a city-based professional, who was travelling for a wedding.
“The airline officials did offer a basic meal while I waited at the airport along with other passengers. We were told that the incoming flight from Jaipur was delayed due to which the subsequent flight to Bhopal was also delayed,” Bhanushali said.
As parts of northern India witnessed moderate rainfall and thundershowers early on Thursday, several incoming and subsequent outgoing flights from the Sardar Vallabhbhai International (SVPI) airport also suffered a delay.
Sources at the airport said the arrival of two other flights from Jaipur and Shirdi were delayed by more than an hour.
“Parts of Delhi witnessed rainfall and thundershowers due to which certain flights were diverted to Jaipur. Due to this, some of the incoming flights coming directly or indirectly from Jaipur to Ahmedabad got delayed,” said a source at the city airport.
In fact, top sources also confirmed that the delay in an incoming flight from Jaipur also led to the cancellation of a flight from Ahmedabad to Shirdi.
Srinagar snowfall causes cancellation of inbound flight to Ahmedabad
As weather conditions worsened in Srinagar with heavy snowfall, the incoming flight from Srinagar to Ahmedabad was cancelled for the second day in a row due to poor visibility. SpiceJet flight, SG-739 from Ahmedabad to Srinagar had to be cancelled.
