The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) on Thursday approved the framework of the entrepreneurship curriculum for Delhi government schools that will be released on February 13.
The framework has been made by a 16-member committee comprising SCERT teachers, NCERT teachers working on entrepreneurship, teachers of prominent private schools and several experts of the field, said the SCERT.
Launch in schools
The government said that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will launch the curriculum along with entrepreneur Dharampal Gulati of MDH Masala who will be the chief guest on the occasion.
The SCERT said that the curriculum will be launched in 15 to 20 schools in April as a pilot project and the full-fledged launch will be done in all Delhi government schools in July. “The entrepreneurship curriculum will be based on activity and there would be no evaluation, examination and books for the curriculum. It will be based on syllabus and learning sessions,” it added.
Job creators
Education Minister Manish Sisodia said said the motive behind the launch of the entrepreneurship curriculum is to make the students of Delhi government job creators rather than being job seekers.
“This initiative will open up a world of possibilities for the Delhi government schools as they explore various options and choose their profession. While this scientifically prepared curriculum is aimed at preparing the students better for their choice of professional journeys, it will invariably bring about a paradigm shift in the education system,” Mr. Sisodia said.
He added that the curriculum was important because of the changing face and rapid pace of technology and companies which are on top today might not exist after 25-years, they may be replaced by ventures that are at the start-up stage today, said the Minister.
