SSLC student hit by truck, sustains multiple fractures
Times News Network | Feb 7, 2019, 05:30 ISTMysuru: Traffic on Nanjangud Road was disrupted for nearly 30 minutes on Wednesday after the public gathered to demand action against the driver of a speeding truck, which hit a 16-year-old SSLC student on his way to school near the APMC Yard on the thoroughfare.
The victim, Shivaraj, a resident of Bandipalya, sustained severe injuries and was admitted to a private hospital by concerned passersby. However, on realising that his vehicle had hit a cycle, the driver allegedly left the truck and fled.
None too pleased with the driver absconding, citizens staged an impromptu protest, which reduced traffic to a crawl. Cops from the Vidyaranyapuram traffic police station and Mysuru South rural police station visited the spot, and impounded the truck. Police assured the angry public of stringent action against the driver.
Mysuru South rural station sub-inspector Jayaprakash confirmed to TOI that Shivaraj had sustained some severe injuries including fractures in his arms and legs.
Shivaraj’s parents are understandably worried given the proximity to the SSLC examinations he is set to appear for in a month’s time. His parents have decided to meet authorities of the school to see if anything can be done to make things easier for Shivaraj.
