2020 Corvette C8 Start Up Screen Allegedly Surfaces Online

We’ve already gotten a glimpse of the new Corvette logo thanks to our exclusive interior pictures of the 2020 C8, but now the model’s startup screen has allegedly been revealed online.

Posted by GM Trucks, the startup animation will reportedly play on the C8’s digital instrument cluster every time the car is started. The short clip shows the display will feature “Corvette by Chevrolet” lettering at the bottom on the screen, while the Corvette logo rotates up and into place. The Corvette message will then disappear as a blue line streaks across the message.

The logo appears largely identical to the one we’ve already seen before, but it features a black outline instead of the chrome design that will be promptly featured on the C8’s two-spoke, flatted bottomed steering wheel. Speaking of the wheel, it will have paddle shifters, two four-way directional controllers and eight different buttons.

The interior of the 2020 Corvette will be far more upscale and drivers can expect leather seats and an Alcantara-like fabric covering the dashboard and center console. The car will also have a ‘floating’ infotainment system which is supported by a stylish metallic frame.

One of the biggest changes will be the all-new center console that has a rotary control knob and Lamborghini-like controls for the gearbox. The center console also has a slim, ramp-like structure that connects to the dashboard and is lined with an assortment of buttons for the climate control system and heated / ventilated seats.

There have been countless rumors about what will power the first mid-engined Corvette, but the base model is expected to use a 6.2-liter V8 that produces around 500 hp (372 kW / 507 PS). There should also be a new 5.5-liter V8, which could be available in both naturally aspirated and twin-turbo configurations. These variants will reportedly have outputs of around 600 hp (447 kW / 608 PS) and 800 hp (596 kW / 811 PS) respectively.

There have also been rumors about an ultra high-performance model that shall use the twin-turbo V8 and an electric motor (which will power the front wheels) and have a combined output of around 1,000 hp (745 kW / 1,013 PS).
