NAGPUR: A jilted lover shared compromising photographs of a 39-year-old widow on social media after she declined his marriage proposal on February 3. The accused, Akshay alias Ranvijay Ganvir (27), was arrested by Gittikhadan police following a complaint by the survivor.
According to cops, the survivor’s husband died a few years back. Since then, she was living with her two children. The survivor came in contact with Ganvir on a social media platform in January last year. The duo started chatting with each other and became friends. As their friendship blossomed, the accused started pestering the survivor to send her private pictures to him. Buckling under pressure, the survivor sent her compromising photos to Ganvir.
A few days later, Ganvir, who works in a private company, proposed the survivor for marriage. As the woman declined the proposal, the accused threatened to share her pictures on social media and also sent some of the photos to her son. The woman claimed that Ganvir also threatened to kill her kids if she didn’t marry him.
The survivor approached Gittikhadan police and lodged a case against Ganvir. The police have booked the accused under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and Information Technology (IT) Act.
