Nandi, wife surrender before special court
Rajesh Kumar Pandey | tnn | Feb 8, 2019, 04:18 ISTAllahabad: State cabinet minister Nand Gopal Gupta alias Nandi along with his wife Abhilasha Gupta, who is Allahabad mayor, surrendered before the special court (MP and MLA) on Thursday in connection with a case alleging violation of model code of conduct during Lok Sabha elections of 2014.
Special judge Pawan Kumar Tiwari, who is presiding over the court, accepted their bail application and remanded them to judicial custody which continued for a few hours. Later, a bail application was moved on behalf of Nandi and Abhilasha, which was accepted by the court, and they were directed to be released on bail.
A case was registered against Nandi and his wife, who is mayor of Allahabad, on March 25, 2014 during Lok Sabha elections at Mutthiganj police station of Allahabad, alleging that they deliberately violated the model code of conduct promulgated by the Election Commission of India (ECI). tnn
