It comes as the state minister for tourism of the country, Godfrey Kiwanda, introduced a beauty pageant called “Miss Curvy Uganda” to endorse tourism to Uganda.
The pageant was part of Tulambule tourism initiative of Uganda planned to highlight the attractions the country has to povide.
Now, curvy women have been added to a list of tourism attractions that manage spectacular wildlife to national parks.
The beauty pageant launch ceremony has women posing by the poolside with the tourism minister in Kampala, the capital city.
“We have naturally endowed nice-looking women that are amazing to look at. Why don’t we use these people as a strategy to promote our tourism industry?” Kiwanda was quoted as saying in The East African newspaper. He further added that the Miss Curvy pageant provided an alternative view to the typical slim entrants.
Miss Curvy Uganda is open to all aged 18 to 35 years, said organizers. According to local media, Ann Mungoma, the organiser of Miss Curvy Uganda, stated that the pageant would improve the visibility and appreciation of Ugandan people. “Miss Curvy is an event that will bring out the endowment of the real African woman.”
