JALANDHAR: Eleven persons have been booked in the murder case of a businessman, in which the victim’s brother was also injured, when he was sitting inside their commercial establishment on the busy Nehru Garden road on Tuesday evening. Nine persons have been named for the murder and two for the conspiracy but they have not been identified.
Devinder Singh Seehra was killed on the spot when he was attacked with sharpedged weapons and bullets were pumped into him while his brother Kamaldeep Singh Seehra was left injured. The latter recorded his statement with the police and named former Congress councillor Sukhmeet Singh, who is already serving a jail term in a kidnapping case and is currently out on parole, for being involved in the conspiracy. However, Sukhmeet himself went to the police and presented himself for questioning. Meanwhile, police have rounded up a few persons for questioning.
Gurpreet Singh, a resident of Basti Bawa Khel, with whom the victims had over a decade-old rivalry, has been named as the main accused in the case, along with 10 others. Police have found the .32-bore pistol used by the assailants.
