Nagpur: A 26-year-old woman has filed a complaint with Pratap Nagar police station that her former ‘friend’ exploited her with fake marriage promises between February 2014 and October last year. Police have registered a case of rape and unnatural sex against accused Jetanand alias Jay Narayani under Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Atrocities Act.
When Jay learnt that the survivor was going to approach the police, he secured anticipatory bail.
According to cops, the survivor, a resident of Pratap Nagar, used to take tuitions in Khamla area in 2014. Jay owned a gift shop there and also a garment showroom in Wadi. During that period the survivor had visited Jay’s shop many times to buy gifts. Jay and the survivor soon got acquainted and shared contact numbers.
After some days, the accused sent a message to the survivor claiming she had been selected as special customer and would be given a surprise gift. Following this Jay took the survivor to his showroom and purchased several outfits for her. Since then the duo become friends.
The duo started chatting with each other and their friendship soon turned into a relationship. One day, Jitendra took the survivor to his house and allegedly exploited her by promising to marry her. Their relationship continued and the accused exploited the survivor several times.
In 2017, the survivor got a job offer from the UAE. She went for the interview along with Jay, and later Jay even took her to a Europe tour, where also he exploited her.
The survivor then joined the job at UAE. The duo continued to talk over the phone. However, a few months later, Jitendra started avoiding the survivor, so she suspected something is wrong. Last year, the survivor came back to the city but Jitendra kept avoiding her.
The survivor then reached his house only to find that Jitendra had got married to another woman. The survivor then approached Pratap Nagar police station and filed a complaint. Police have registered an offence after investigating the matter and also conducted a medical check-up of the survivor.
