SVUM’s international trade festival to begin February 11

RAJKOT: The 6th International Trade Festival will be organized in Rajkot from February 11 with an aim to boost export from industries of Saurashtra and Kutch regions.
Union commerce minister Suresh Prabhu is expected to inaugurate the event. Nearly 150 representative from foreign countries are expected to participate in the five-day trade festival.

The trade fest, which will be organized by the Saurashtra Vepar Udhyog Mahamandal (SVUM), will also have seminars on key sectors like agro commodity, ceramics, food processing, machine tools and textiles to name a few.

Parag Tejura, president of SVUM, said, “When we met minister Prabhu during the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2019, he gave in-principle confirmation to be chief guest for the trade festival. However, because of the Parliament’s Budget session we are still awaiting final confirmation from his office.”

Tejura said that they have got confirmation for participation from countries like Afghanistan, Togo, Cameroon, Zambia, Benim, Sudan and Bangladesh. According to SUVM there are huge opportunities in sectors like food processing, construction, engineering, roads, hospitals and schools in African countries.


Seminar on women entrepreneurship in India and Africa, business opportunity in Africa, young entrepreneur, start-up, innovators’ meet, agriculture in Africa and opportunity of export of agro machinery.


There will be a seminar on bureau of energy conservation where representatives from 32 multinational companies will have conversation with the traders of Saurashtra and Kutch region.


Visits to select factories of Rajkot and Morbi have also been planned for few buyers from foreign countries. All the trade associations of Saurashtra and Kutch, state government departments and agencies are supporting the event.
