Truck driver, cleaner robbed of Rs 16,000 cash
tnn | Feb 8, 2019, 04:00 ISTRajkot: A truck driver and his cleaner were thrashed badly and robbed of Rs 16,000 cash by three unidentified robbers near Ronki village on Morbi Bypass Road near Rajkot on Wednesday night.
According to the complaint lodged by the victims, identified as Mahesh Bambhania (24), the truck driver and Vijay Parmar, the cleaner, while they were passing by a highway hotel near Ronki village, their truck got punctured.
When Bambhania and Parmar got down to change the wheel, three unidentified robbers who had covered their faces arrived at the spot. One of the robbers grabbed Parmar, while the other hit Bambhania with a stick.
“The robbers who were speaking in Hindi robbed Bambhania of Rs 16,000 cash. They also looted the victims’ cellphones, but returned them after the victims pleaded with them,” said an official from Gandhigram police station.
“After committing the crime, when the robbers vanished into the cover of darkness, Bambhania and Parmar came across a truck whose driver, who identified himself as Devendrasinh Jadeja, claimed that he too was robbed of Rs 5,000 by the same robbers,” said the official, adding that the police have registered the case and started searching for suspects.
