Bhopal: A fire broke out in a gowdown near a market at Kabadkhana on Tuesday late night. No injury or casualty was reported, however, plastic goods worth lakhs of rupees were gutted in the inferno. More than two dozen fire tenders battled for over two hours to douse the blaze which started at 2 am.
Firemen said that the fire was massive but was controlled before it spread to other godowns and nearby houses. Prompt action of the firefighters helped to check spread of fire to adjacent godown of plastic goods which was much larger and had stored plastic goods in huge quantity. The nearby houses were timely vacated.
Hanumanganj police is yet get the details of the loss of the property and the extent of damage caused by the fire. Soon after the information of fire was received by Old Categorized Fire Brigade more than 20 vehicles were pressed into service to contain the fire. In the fire
Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) fire officer Rameshwar Neel said that the fire would have spread in the other areas as well but we managed to douse the flames as we soon swung into action on receiving the information. Fire tenders were rushed to the area and since it was night there was no traffic on road, said the officer.
