Bhopal: The banking personnel, opposing merger of banks, demonstrated in the city on Wednesday, under the aegis of United Forum of Bank Unions. The banking personnel demanded withdrawal of decision of merger of Dena Bank and Vijaya Bank with Bank of Baroda.
The banking personnel of the state capital gathered and demonstrated in the evening at Oriental Bank of Commerce, regional office. The gathering of the protestors was addressed by VK Sharma, Sanjeev Sablok, Arun Bhagoliwal, DK Podar, Madan Jain, Deepak Ratna Sharma, Sanjay Kudesia, Gunshekharan and JP Dubey.
They claimed that the merger of banks was unnecessary. They alleged that the government by raising the issue of merger wants to divert the attention of nation and people from bad loans. The banking personnel demanded that banks do not need merger but expansion. They said that merger of banks would lead to lack of employment opportunities. They also demanded to withdraw the decision of the merger of banks.
