FALL RIVER --- Mayor Jasiel Correia II’s interim status hearing regarding the 13 federal charges against him set for Feb. 13 has been postponed.

In a joint status report filed in the United States District Court of Massachusetts on Wednesday, the postponement is due to Correia’s defense attorney, Kevin Reddington, not completing the review of the government’s 18,256 pages of discovery produced by the office of U.S. Attorney Andrew Lelling on Nov. 7.

Reddington received the discovery materials related to federal charges facing Correia – nine counts of wire fraud and four counts of tax fraud – one month after the second term mayor was arrested by federal law enforcement in the early morning hours in Bridgewater.

The court filing states Correia will be back in the John Joseph Moakley U.S. Courthouse for an interim status conference the week of April 22.

The date will be more than one month after the March 12 recall election which Correia is facing.
