Bhanderi, who is also vice-chairman of SMC’s drainage committee, had demanded the money from a doctor to allow him to run his clinic in a residential locality. The complainant contacted Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on 1064 number and sought help. The doctor runs the clinic on the ground floor of this residence.

In his complaint, the doctor alleged that Bhanderi, who is the municipal councillor from ward 8 (Dabholi Singanpore), demanded money for not taking action. Bhanderi allegedly demanded bribe by threatening to get the shutter of his clinic removed.
Despite several requests by the doctor to reduce the amount, Bhanderi did not relent. Later, he contacted ACB and lodged a complaint.
