Ex-New York Times Editor Jill Abramson Will Review Passages In New Book After Allegations of Plagiarism

Ex-NY Times executive editor Jill Abramson is being accused of plagiarism in her new book about the state of the news industry.????Abrams was fired from the New York Times in 2014, and now the “Merchants of Truth: Inside the News Revolution,’ author is being accused of plagiarism by multiple journalists.????On Twitter, Vice News Correspondent Michael Moynihan accused Abrams of stealing from multiple other publications to complete her chapters on Vice News, including Time Out, The New Yorker, and even a master’s thesis.????And freelance writer Ian Frisch also accused Abramson of plagiarism on Twitter, claiming she lifted a profile that he’d written for his own magazine called ‘Relapse’ for a portion of the book.

????On Fox News, Abramson responded to the claims, saying:????SOT: “All I can tell you is I certainly didn’t plagiarize in my book and there’s 70 pages of footnotes showing where I got the information.”????In a statement, the book’s publisher Simon and Schuster told The Hollywood Reporter:????“Each of the four news organizations covered in the book was given ample time and opportunity to comment on the content, and where appropriate the author made changes and corrections.

If upon further examination changes or attributions are deemed necessary we stand ready to work with the author in making those revisions."??
