Two people were killed in Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday (February 6) after heavy rains and strong winds blasted the Brazilian city.

According to local media, the two residents were killed by landslides caused by the downpour which started at about 2200 local time (2400GMT) Emergency officials are recommending Rio residents stay inside tonight whilst the wet weather passes.

Meteorologists have predicted more rain in Rio until the end of the week.
