Vadodara: City police received the custody of Pradeepkumar Gupta and Pankajkumar Shrivastava, who are chairman and director of Real India Suraksha Nidhi Limited and Real Indian Mature Benefit Limited, on Wednesday.
The duo was booked for duping several investors from the city to the tune of Rs 2.3 crore between March 2014 and April 2017. On Thursday, a judicial magistrate’s court remanded the duo to police custody till February 11.
The company had started branches in Alkapuri, Pratapnagar, Dabhoi Road and Savli in Vadodara city and district. They had lured victims to invest through agents by promising them 2% more interest than banks. However, the company closed its offices and branches in 2017 without returning money of investors and agents.
Police said that around 845 customers and 15 agents of the company had lost their money in the ponzi scheme. Last month, Panchmahal police had arrested the duo from Lucknow for a similar offence that was registered at Kalol police station. After the accused’s custody period ended they were sent to Vadodara Central Jail.
