Gadchiroli: Naxals allegedly killed a 31-year-old man in Visamundi village in Bhamragad taluka in the district on the suspicion of being a police informer, an official said Thursday. The body of Anandrao Santu Madavi, with his throat slit, was found on Thursday morning, the police official said. “Madavi was abducted by a group of armed Maoists late Wednesday night from his house in Visamundi, when he was about to go to sleep.
“Residents of the village requested the ultras to free him, but they took him to a dense forest at gunpoint. His body, with the throat slit, was found lying on the road this morning,” he said. According to police, a note allegedly written by Maoists, has been recovered. “Anandrao had applied for recruitment in the police department and was working as special police officer (SPO).
His father was also a police informer. As a result, he (Anandrao) was killed,” he said. The note mentions ‘Permili Area Committee’ of Maoists in the area, he said. With this incident, the number of people allegedly killed by Naxals on the suspicion of being police informers has gone up to eight in Gadchiroli district in the last 20 days.
