Ranji Trophy Final Live Score and Updates, Vidarbha vs Saurashtra Day 5:

Presentation ceremony

Now for the winning captain, Faiz Fazal: "It feels unreal. Behind all this there is a lot of hard work from each and everyone. It is different, first time is always special but we had to work really hard this season. The whole team have worked hard in the off season. Really happy with the entire season but more happy with the way we played this final. Can't thank them enough, each and every member of the support stuff has been incredible. They give us everything and make our life comfortable. Lucky charm maybe (talking about captaincy). Hopefully I continue for a few more years."

Man of the Match

Not a surprise this. Aditya Sarwate is the Man of the Match: "It was a terrific final. I would like to congratulate the Saurashtra team to coming this far. They (team management) are always there for us. In the second innings it was difficult to rotate the strike but the idea was to bat long and let the pitch deteriorate. The runs with the tail were crucial."

Presentation ceremony

First up is the losing captain Jaydev Unadkat: "The final lived up to its expectation. It was a close game and we fought really hard. Credit goes to Vidarbha. The brand of cricket we played was impressive and until I am leading this bunch, I will ensure that we play the same way. Many guys debuted the season and had a good run in the team. It wasn't just about Cheteshwar or Ravindra, but the youngsters stood up in the knockouts and in the league stage. I just hope to lead this bunch of guys and nurture this brand of cricket. We have given it everything and fought till the end. It has been a good season personally and hope to continue the same form. Lot to learn from Vidarbha and that's how you improve your cricket."

Post-match reaction

Vidarbha coach Chandrakant Pandit: "It's a very important win for us. People were saying it's fluke, but we have proved them wrong and won it for the second time. There was a lot of pressure, we only followed the process. You can see the results. It's just a matter of beginning for us. The support from the association was great."

Post-match reactions

Legendary Wasim Jaffer: "Absolutely great feeling. Playing tenth final is not a small thing, winning two in two is outstanding. I enjoy playing cricket. Chandrakant Pandit (coach) brought me to Vidarbha from Mumbai and he gave me a lot of confidence. I know only playing cricket and I don't want to let it go."

Post-match reactions

Seamer  Umesh Yadav: "Brilliant performance from the boys, really good. It's a big achievement for Vidarbha. The way support staff handled all the players and helped them was really good. The youngsters have gained a lot of maturity over the years and we would like to keep it going."

VIDARBHA ARE RANJI TROPHY CHAMPIONS

VIDARBHA ARE RANJI TROPHY CHAMPIONS! For the second season running, Vidarbha win the Ranji Trophy title. Beat Saurashtra by 78 runs in Nagpur. Aditya Sarwate the star performer with 11 wickets in the match.

WICKET!

Dharmendrasinh Jadeja is the last wicket to fall - goes back for 17 runs. Flighted delivery by Wakhare, Jadeja went for the slog sweep, the top-edge skies towards long leg, Sarwate settles under it and takes it calmly. Fitting that the ball went to Sarwate in the end. Vidarbha win by 78 runs.

WICKET!

Jaydev Unadkat goes for the sweep to Sarwate and there is only one outcome from there. Unadkat departs for 7 and Saurashtra are 121/9. Sarwate with his sixth wicket and 11th of the final. Went for the sweep, the length is too much for the shot and gets hit in front of middle stump.

WICKET!

Vishvaraj Jadeja is given out leg before for 52 runs from 137 balls. He can't quite believe what just happened with that rash shot, given the circumstances. Attempted a wild sweep to a very full delivery, misses it and is struck in front of middle. Sarwate once again and a maiden 10-wicket haul for him in first class cricket and what a stage to get it at. Saurashtra are 103/8

FIFTY FOR JADEJA

Quicker delivery from Sarwate, Jadeja played for the turn and inside edges it. Evades the forward short leg fielder somehow and the batsmen complete a single to bring up Vishvaraj Jadeja's third first class fifty. it also brings up Saurashtra;s 100 runs

WICKET!

Akshay Wakhare joins the party. Saurashtra lose two wickets in two overs but this one is extremely unlucky on Prerak Mankad. He walks back for 2 runs from 2 balls but it looks not out. It was flighted on off and fizzed through to hit Mankad on the back thigh as he misses his defence. Replay suggests it was outside off. Saurashtra 91/7 and Vidarbha can get the confetti ready

WICKET!

Who else but Aditya Sarwate to get the first wicket on the final day and it is poor decision making by Kamlesh Makvana. He walks back for 14 runs from 45 balls. Expected the delivery to spin away, offers no shot and lets it be but the ball maintains its line after pitching on off and clatters the off stump. Not happy scenes inside the Saurashtra dressing room. They are 88/6

FOUR! FOUR! FOUR!

Three boundaries already on Day 5. Two coming from Vishvaraj Jadeja's bat and another from Kamlesh Makvana. Umesh Yadav and Aditya Sarwate sharing the ball

Day 5 underway

The climax stage into the Ranji Trophy 2018/19 season with Vidarbha in the driver's seat as they look on course to expand their trophy cabinet. Unless of course, Saurashtra decide to spring in a surprise like they have been doing all throughout the season - snatching wins from come-from-behind situations. Going into the day, Saurashtra need 148 runs and Vidarbha need 5 wickets. Vishvaraj Jadeja remains vital in this possible chase.
