‘Leaders from other parties will be selectively admitted into the party’

The YSRCP will go with the incumbent MLAs and coordinators in 150 of the 175 constituencies in the Assembly elections, according to Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, political secretary to party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

“In the remaining constituencies, we will selectively admit leaders from other parties,” Mr. Ramakrishna Reddy told the media after reviewing the party’s election preparedness in the Ongole Lok Sabha constituency on Wednesday. “Till the ‘B’ form is issued, there will be additions and deletions in the list of candidates. Those in the fray in the other parties and winning chances of the aspirants will be taken into account,” he said.

Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy would hold a meeting with the intellectuals on February 13 and later address the party workers from the grassroots level.

Referring to the vote on account presented by the State government, Mr. Ramakrishna Reddy said it was silent on the commitments made to the farmers regarding the remaining instalments of loan waiver. Similarly, the unemployment allowance had been doubled, but the allocations were not commensurate with it, he said.

‘Amanchi welcome’

Meanwhile, senior party leader Balineni Srinivasa Reddy said Chirala MLA Amanchi Krishnamohan, who won as an Independent in the 2014 elections and later associated himself with the TDP, was welcome to join the YSRCP. The invitation came in the wake of Mr. Krishnamohan reportedly expressing dissatisfaction over the TDP giving prominence to “defeated candidate” Pothula Sunitha by first making her MLC and later head of the State Women’s wing.

After holding consultations with his supporters, the MLA was reportedly mulling to quit the party before being invited by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

Environment Minister Sidda Raghava Rao, in an attempt to iron out the differences, held parleys with Mr. Krishnamohan late on Tuesday.

YSRCP Chirala constituency in-charge Y. Balaji was conspicuous by his absence at the meeting.
