South Goa Planning and Development Authority (SGPDA) chairperson, Renuka Da Silva, on Thursday, informed that all the 500-odd objections and suggestions received by the SGPDA on the draft ODPs of Margao and Ponda, will be heard and decided on by the three-member sub-committee that has been constituted.
The last date for filing of objections and suggestions was February 5.
“We have taken a few decisions today. A three member sub- committee is constituted to hear and decide on the 500-odd objections (392 for Margao and 110 for Ponda) on the draft ODPs for Margao and Ponda that have been received. The committee will decide on each of the case by visiting the areas, even though the exercise is tedious. The three-member committee consists of member secretary of SGPDA Venkatesh Rao and Lyndon Pereria,” she said after the meeting.
She said that the SGPDA board members have approved the proposed construction of the wholesale fish market.
“GSIDC has submitted the plans and drawings about the proposed wholesale fish market to us. It will be ground plus one structure with a provision for offices and other facilities,” she added.
“Rs 25 crore worth reconstruction of the SGPDA market was also discussed and agreed on.”
Da Silva said that the proposed plans for the old market and Margao Tinto heritage restoration were also approved during the meeting. “The consultant made presentation on the old market heritage restoration, and the plan was approved. The GSIDC will be doing the work. We have taken the vendors and other businessmen from the area into confidence on the upgradation of the infrastructure. They will be rehabilitated. The SGPDA members have collectively agreed to construct a new SGPDA market at Usgao in phase-wise manner.”
“We have decided to construct the first phase at the rear side of the old building,” the member secretary of the SGPDA Ashok Kumar.
