The Samagra Shiksha Keralam launched the district-level edition of its Hello English programme in association with The Hindu at a function held at the Government Model Girls Higher Secondary School, Pattom, on Wednesday.
The Samagra Shiksha Keralam is promoting various programmes focussing on improving three languages — Malayalam, Hindi, and English. Hello English, in association with The Hindu In School, is one of them for promoting English language and improving the reading, writing, and speaking skills of the high school and higher secondary students of government and aided schools.
State Project Director A.P. Kuttykrishnan inaugurated the programme by handing over copies of The Hindu In School to the students. In his inaugural address, Dr. Kuttykrishnan spoke about the various initiatives of the government and the SSA in improving the quality of education. He advised the students to make use of the products designed by The Hindu such as The Hindu In School, Young World and the Sunday supplement to improve their learning skills.
Principal N. Retnakumar welcomed the gathering. District project officer Sreekumaran B., headmaster Raveendhji, senior teacher Rekha Radhakrishna, and Sureshkumar Pillai, AGM, The Hindu, were present.
