Venezuela’s Guaido calls humanitarian aid block 'absurd'

(ROUGH CUT - NO REPORTER NARRATION) Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido on Wednesday (February 6) said the blocking of a border crossing bridge with Colombia was "an absurd reaction" by the government of Nicolas Maduro.

Guaido was apparently referring to two tractor trailers that were placed on the Venezuelan side of the Puente Tienditas border crossing bridge with Colombia on Tuesday (February 5) in what appears to be an effort to block humanitarian aid from entering the country, according to local reports.

The head of Venezuela's National Assembly, who named himself interim president last month, made the comments shortly after leaving a meeting with members of the agricultural sector during which he called on the country's production sectors to prepare for a transition period.

"We must think about the reactivation of the production apparatus," he said.
