Woman found dead on road, unidentified driver booked

PATIALA: The city police have booked some unidentified persons under various sections of the Indian Penal Code for causing death by negligence.
A case in this regard was registered by City Samana police on the complaint of a local resident. He told cops that he found a woman lying dead on Cheeka road in Samana when he was going to a gurdwara.
The complainant, Gurdial Singh of Bhinder Colony in Samana, called cops and informed some locals about the dead woman. Police took the woman to a nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead by doctors.
"We have initiated a probe and booked an unidentified driver for death by negligence. The postmortem of the deceased will be conducted after identification or 72 hours. The body has been kept in the mortuary of a government hospital," investigation officer of the case said.
