Swapnachitra, exhibition of paintings by 50 artists, opens

No odds can smother real talent, proves the second edition of ‘Swapnachitra,’ an exhibition of paintings by 50 differently abled persons from all over the State, that began at Kerala Lalithakala Akademi Art Gallery in Kozhikode on Wednesday.

The exhibition, organised by Dream of Us, a collective that aims at bringing differently abled people to the mainstream of society. The exhibition, the biggest of its kind in the State, features around 100 works by 50 artists. The artists have been identified through the social media and various special schools.

The paintings, well framed as part of the project, are put on sale, the proceeds of which will go to the respective artists, the organisers claimed.

The expo was opened by Assistant Collector Anju S. on Wednesday in the presence of actor Mamukoya, environmentalist T. Shobheendran and Ummil Kuls, an artist who paints with her legs, who shot to fame after the first edition of Swapnachitra.
