Food delivery aggregator Swiggy on Wednesday launched its operations in Anantapur, the sixth city in the State.
Swiggy had tied up with 75 restaurants, bakeries and eateries in the city and promised customers to deliver oliga, a popular local sweet, within 6 k.m. radius of the city centre, a company spokesperson said.
“Apart from Anantapur, the company is present in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Guntur, Rajahmundry and Kakinada,” said Marketing vice-president T.S. Srivats, adding that Anantapur was known for its history and lip-smacking local dishes like uggani - a favourite of locals and tourists alike for breakfast. Ragi-mudda, sajja rotti and jonna rotti, popular among tourists, would be available on the application. The city was famous for its cuisine inspired by regional flavours, especially Nawabi cuisine, said Mr. Srivats.
Food from popular outlets like Lucky 9, Tadipatri Biryani Centre, Empire Restaurant, SS Paradise, Ruchi's Family Restaurant, Masineni Grand, and Suraj Grand would be available on the platform, he added.
Swiggy, founded in 2014, has expanded to more than 75 new cities in the last one year.
