Team India failed to replicate its ODI form in the recently concluded 1st T20 against New Zealand. Chasing 220, hosts bundled out the visitors for 139, defeating the side by 80 runs. However, like in ODIs, the former skipper MS Dhoni once again proved why he is the best person to take advice from. During Kiwis’ innings, Krunal Pandya helped the side to get their first breakthrough, the wicket of the dangerous Colin Munro.
Kiwis were going strong in the power-play and were 86 for none after 8 overs when Pandya came on to bowl. After sending down the first ball of his over, Krunal was spotted having a long chat with MSD, who reportedly gave some clinical insights to the spinner. When Pandya bowled the second ball, Munro tried to hit the ball outside the boundary line. However, to India’s luck, Vijay Shankar was fielding in the deep, and grabbed the ball to give India a huge breakthrough. Watch video:

Not only with the ball, MS Dhoni and Krunal Pandya chipped in with the bat too but could not prevent one of India’s worst defeats in T20s. Before Pandya, Dhoni also helped Kuldeep Yadav during the 1st ODI to take the last Kiwi wicket of Trent Boult.
India and New Zealand will next meet at Auckland on February 8.
