Addressing the media, new managing director Anand Sharma said, “The tourism sector in the state will be developed by identifying hotspots in each district and then developing them into a popular tourist destination. There are several avenues in the state which are yet to be explored.”

The MD also stressed on promoting and branding of the tourist destinations. “Social media is a very important platform to reach out to people across the world. Our department will focus on promotion and branding of the destinations on several other platforms like Instagram, Twitter and Facebook which will eventually draw the attention of the youths of the state,” Sharma said.

Bihar has the potential to get counted among the top five states in the country with regard to tourism hotspots. “The infrastructure, civic sense and literacy rate has improved a lot which will also help us to improve our tourism sector as well,” the MD added.

Sharma added, “Bihar has lot of unexplored natural beauty and historical sites which have been ignored till now. BSTDC will also soon set up a feedback mechanism including its social media handles where tourists and even residents of the state can give suggestions for improvement and further beautification of the spots.”
