Man held with 28 liquor boxes

The police have arrested a person for selling liquor in the town illegally. The accused has been identified as Swaran Singh of Baba Jeewan Singh Nagar. Investigating officer Sansar Singh said on Monday he was on a round in the area along with other cops when they saw the accused coming from the Cheema Chowk side in a car. The accused was intercepted and on checking the cops recovered as many as 28 boxes of liquor from him. The police have registered a case against under Sections 61,78, 1 and 14 of the Excise Act and arrested the accused.

Bike theft reported in Field Ganj


The police have booked unidentified persons for allegedly stealing the motorcycle of an Amarpura resident. In his complaint, Rheman Khan (24) said on Friday night he had parked his motorcycle outside his dance academy on Street No. 10 of Field Ganj area. However, when he returned to the spot, his bike was missing. The police have registered a case under Section 379 of the Indian Penal Code. The cops are yet to identify and arrest the accused.


PRTC bus driver held with 2kg poppy husk


The Division No. 5 police have booked a PRTC bus driver for allegedly carrying 2kg poppy husk. The accused has been identified as Raghbir Singh of Moga. Investigating officer Rashpal Singh said on Monday, Raghbir was driving down from New Delhi and on getting informed we nabbed the accused. The driver was nabbed with 2kg of poppy husk. The police have registered a case against the driver under Sections 15, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act.
