Funeral of Speaker’s mother held

The last rites of Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy’s mother Parige Papavva who died on Tuesday night at the age of 107 years were performed at their native Pocharam village in Banswada mandal of Kamareddy district on Wednesday.

A large number of people not only from this village but others in Banswada constituency, represented by Mr. Reddy, turned up for the funeral procession to the family’s agricultural fields in the village outskirts where the cremation took place, TRS leaders said here.

Younger brother of Mr. Srinivas Reddy lit the pyre. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali, former speaker S. Madhusudana Chary and other leaders consoled the Speaker over phone.

Among those who paid tributes to the body at Speaker’s ancestral house in the village were former minister S. Jagdish Reddy, Zaheerabad MP B.B. Patil, MLAs Hanmanth Shinde, Gampa Goverdhan, A. Jeevan Reddy, Md. Shakeel and Ganesh Gupta, legislature secretary V. Narasimha Charyulu, Kamareddy and Nizamabad collectors N. Satyanarayana and M.R.M. Rao respectively, Nizamabad range Deputy Inspector General of Police Shivshanker Reddy and Nizamabad Police Commissioner Karthikeya.
