LUCKNOW: The spokesperson of Dr Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University (DSMNRU), Prof Devendra Nath Singh pulled down his Facebook post on the ongoing CBI-Kolkata episode, after it sparked a controversy.
On Wednesday, Singh, who is also a faculty in the Hindi department alleged his colleagues for intentionally politicizing the matter. Also, he said that his post was just a satire. It has been quoted and shared by some professors in an erroneous manner with the media persons out of enmity.
In his FB post, Singh had addressed West Bengal, chief minister Mamata Banerjee as Goddess Durga, the Mahisasura Mardini and had made a mention of an unnamed person as a 'parrot' who after taking a dip in Kumbh flew towards Bengal without realizing that 'Didi' (Bengal CM) is there. The post was connected with the recent tussle between the BJP and the Trinamool Congress in Bengal.
"I would not have removed the post if it had not been misquoted. As a litterateur, I keep on writing on current issues. My post was just a satire on the current tug-o war between two big organizations of the country which has been given a policial angle," said DSMNRU spokesperson Devendra Nath Singh. One can scroll down my FB account and can find many such posts on different political parties and current issues written in a satirical manner, he said.
He said that for his writings he was felicitated by the former Prime Minister Atal Bihar Vajpayee in Hindi Sansthan in 1998. He writes posts, as a litterateur and not as a university professor. The post was not at all a political party specific post, he added.
"I am deeply hurt that the democratic right of Freedom of speech and expression has been publicised in a negative manner by some university professors to level their personal scores," he added.
