The Polestar 1 is one of the upcoming cars that doesn’t really need any camouflage, as we have already seen it in numerous occasions -both static and on the move. Despite that, Polestar was spotted working on a camouflaged test car, which was found parked on a petrol station.
Polestar has been quite open about the ongoing development of the One, sharing everything from internal safety tests to production of the prototypes, as well as high-speed evaluation.
The plug-in hybrid, high-performance GT is going to feature a heavily electrified powertrain that combines a twin-charged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a pair of electric motors. The result will be 592hp (600PS) and 738lb-ft (1,000Nm) of torque.
The upcoming Polestar 1 will be also able to travel on electric power alone for 93 miles (150km), while the powertrain will feature real torque vectoring for a more thrilling driving experience.
The cabin comes with a typical-for-a-GT 2+2 configuration while the lightweight bodywork is made out of carbon fiber, including the roof.
The chassis will feature a carbon fiber section between the middle of the floor and the rear compartment, which according to Polestar is radically improving the structure’s torsional stiffness.
The 1 will be Polestar’s first product since its separation from Volvo and as such aims to become the brand’s halo model. Regular production of the Polestar 1 is scheduled to begin in mid-2019, with the entire first year being completely sold out according to the company, including 200 cars destined for North America.
The plug-in hybrid Polestar 1 is priced at $155,000 in the United States and at 155,000 euros in Europe. Chinese customers will have to pay at least ¥1.45 million to get their hands on this carbon-clad high-performance GT.
