Lucknow: Fog to remain, rain may return with chill today

LUCKNOW: As thick fog disrupted rail and air traffic for the second consecutive day on Tuesday, no relief is expected on Wednesday and Thursday with the weatherman predicting rain and thundershowers.

After studying weather reports, officials at Airports Authority of India said that the delay in operation of flights might continue on Wednesday. Similar was the observation of railways officials.


State Met director JP Gupta said a strong western disturbance over the Himalayas is all set to cause weather change in the city. Cloudy sky and cold weather is expected on Wednesday with chances of rain/thundershowers. Possibility of rain is more on Thursday. Moderate fog may occur in the morning.


Meanwhile, on Tuesday, arrival and departure of over a dozen flights was delayed by up to three hours at Amausi airport due to foggy conditions in north India giving a tough time to flyers. Passengers had to face many hardships with more than 30 trains arriving late at Charbagh railway station and Lucknow Junction.


Flights which arrived late included Jaipur-Lucknow Alliance Air (3 hours), Jaipur-Lucknow Air India (3 hours), Kolkata-Lucknow IndiGo (2 hours) and Kolkata-Lucknow IndiGo (2 hours). Flights which departed late included Lucknow-Hyderabad IndiGo (3 hours), Lucknow-Jaipur Alliance Air (3 hours) and Lucknow-Bengaluru IndiGo airlines flight (2 hours).


Prominent trains which arrived late included Archana Express (11 hours), Swatantra Senani Express (11 hours), Bareilly-Prayag Express (7 hours), Chandigarh-Lucknow Express (5 hours), Kaifiyat Express (5 hours) and Doon Express (5 hours).
