Pakistan's SC tells military not to interfere in politics

Pakistan's on Wednesday warned the powerful military and intelligence agencies against interfering in political matters and curtailing in the country.

"The Constitution emphatically prohibits members of the armed forces from engaging in any kind of political activity, which includes supporting a political party, faction or individual," the apex court said.

The two-member bench also ordered the government and the of Army Staff to take action against personnel who do not follow this directive, news reported.

The November 2017 protests by the Tehreek-e-Labbaik party, which was in news recently for protesting against the acquittal of Christian woman from blasphemy charges, ended after an agreement between the and the military.
