The second-generation Rolls-Royce Ghost has been snapped during its on-road assessment

This is our first glimpse of the next Rolls-Royce Ghost. The second-generation smaller Rolls’ limo will feature a somewhat subtle exterior redesign feeding off the back of the latest Phantom, an all-new platform, the company’s latest infotainment system and an overhauled interior.

Like the recently-revised Rolls-Royce Phantom, the new Ghost will be based on the company’s all-new “Architecture of Luxury” platform. The fully-scalable, all-aluminium space-frame chassis will be used to underpin all next-generation Rolls-Royces, and will replace the previous Ghost’s BMW 7 Series-based platform.

Inside, we expect the Ghost will adopt Rolls-Royce’s latest infotainment system and digital dash, as seen in the new Phantom and Cullinan. This means a 12.3-inch TFT screen in place of the old model’s conventional gauges and a concealable central screen, which disappears into the dash at the touch of a button. The whole interior design will be overhauled too.

Under the bonnet, we expect the new Ghost to be fitted with the latest iteration of Rolls’ 6.6-litre V12. The engine will likely be mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox and offer power figures in excess of 560bhp. A reveal will take place in 2020.
