A writ petition was filed in the Kerala High Court on Wednesday challenging the government order prescribing compulsory government service to those doctors who have completed postgraduation and super-specialty course. The petition was filed by Jithin S. Kumar, who completed his superspecialty course from the Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram. He pointed out that as per a 2008 government order, doctors who had completed various medical graduate, postgraduate, and super-specialty postgraduate courses were liable to do compulsory government service in terms of the bond they had executed at the time of joining the course.
. The petitioner contended that the new government order prescribing compulsory government service after PG courses was illegal.
