Three burglars nabbed for theft in mobile shop, house

VADODARA: Gorwa police arrested three burglars who involved in two break-ins that took place in Subhanpura over the past couple of days.
An auto-rickshaw driver was nabbed for stealing 96 mobile phones, a laptop and other electronic valuables worth Rs 18.7 lakh from a mobile shop near Jain temple in Subhanpura. In another case, where jewellery worth Rs 94,200 was stolen from an elderly couple’s house, police arrested Akash Vanzara and Dinesh Parmar, who live in slums at Subhanpura.
Police said that the rickshaw driver Ishaq Patel from Karjan and two others had broken into Radhika Mobile Shop in Subhanpura early on Monday by breaking the shutter and glass door. They took away 96 mobile phones of different brands that were kept in the display. They also stole seven power banks, one laptop, digital video recorder of CCTV cameras and an internet modem.
A police official said that on learning about the burglary, they had intensified vehicle checking in the area since Monday morning. Patel’s rickshaw was intercepted in Bajwa. Two unidentified persons fled seeing the policemen, but Patel was nabbed. He had planned to sell the mobile phones in black market.
Vanzara and Parmar were also roaming around on High-Tension Road to sell the stolen jewellery. They had entered the house of Pratibha Palkar, who lives with her husband, on the afternoon of February 2 and stole the jewellery.
