The Railways will operate a special train on special fare between Bandra Terminus-Mangaluru Junction-Bandra Terminus (one service) to clear extra rush of passengers.
A release from Konkan Railway Corporation here said Train No. 09009 Bandra (T)-Mangaluru Jn. Weekly Special on special fare leaves Bandra (T) at 11.45 p.m. on February 7 to reach Mangaluru Jn. at 7.30 p.m. the next day. Train No. 09010 Mangaluru Jn.-Bandra (T) Weekly Special on special fare leaves Mangaluru Jn. at 11 p.m. on February 8 to reach Bandra (T) at 7.30 p.m. the next day.
It would halt at Borivali, Vasai Road, Panvel, Roha, Khed, Chiplun, Sangameshwar Road, Ratnagiri, Kankavali, Kudal, Sawantwadi Road, Thivim, Madgaon Jn., Karwar, Kumta, Bhatkal, Mookambika Road Byndoor, Kundapura, Udupi, Mulki and Surathkal stations. The train would have one 2-tier AC coach, four 3-tier AC coaches, 13 second class sleeper coaches, two general coaches and two generator-cum-SLR coaches; in all 22 LHB coaches, the release said.
Loop lines
Meanwhile, KRCL has commissioned a loop line, No. 2, at Savarda Railway Station in Ratnagiri of Maharashtra. A release here said the loop line would augment train crossing capacity on the network and improve efficiency of train operations.
KRCL has proposed to construct 10 new stations and 8 loop lines in its network to augment train handling capacity.
